Metal braces are often used to straighten teeth. They can also be used to help correct misaligned bites including both underbites and overbites.

When determining the best course of action to fix your smile, one of our dentists will do a thorough examination with x-rays and possibly pictures of your face. We will then decide what type of braces would work best for you.

Braces consist of bands and wires. Depending on your needs, other corrective appliances may be required. They work by applying pressure on your teeth and gums to move your teeth into the right position. Your mouth will need to be monitored closely, and sometimes your braces may need to be adjusted to ensure they are working the way they are supposed to.

You will have to brush your teeth often while you have braces so that food and other particles do not get stuck in them. Flossing is still necessary too. You may also find out that it is important to stay away from certain foods that are difficult to eat.
